And his wife Terry
I was born and raised in the Pleasant Grove community. I watched my father, mother, grandfather and grandmother among other family members serve in this church for many years. I have so many great memories of being here. My wife and I were married at Pleasant Grove Baptist in October 1991, and I was baptized and ordained here. I served as a youth Pastor for 2 ½ yrs and left to attend the Baptist College of Florida where I received a BA degree in Theology and Biblical studies. My family and I served Beaver Creek Baptist Church in Baker FL for 7 yrs. I have been the Chaplain for the EHS football and softball team for 5 yrs, and am currently the full time Chaplain at the Santa Rosa Jail. We have 3 wonderful children; a daughter, Branda and two incredible boys, Bobby and Anthony. My testimony is simple, I spent 24 yrs as a professional wrestler and lived my life my way, even though some parts were exciting but only for a season. I was miserable until God called me out of the world and into His service. He is showing me daily what a Godly father, man and a servant should be. John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this; to lay down one’s life for one’s friends”
And his wife, Dean
Jim was saved in 1984, and has been a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church since 2011.

Coleman has been a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church since around 1940 and was ordained as a Deacon in the 70's - five years after being saved, and is still very active today. He leads our children in a church Community Garden -teaching them hard work, love, and sharing with others.
Coleman Commander is married to Pauline who is also a very active and a cherished member of the Pleasant Grove family, together in a loving, Christian home they raised 3 children.
Spend any time with Coleman Commander and you will at some point hear him say "Yes you can, always put your best foot forward!" or "Always be careful what you do, people are watching!"
Ask him his favorite bible verse and he will quote John 3:16 " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
And his wife, Carol
In December of 1969, Jim Olson was saved while en route to Vietnam. He has been a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church since 2002 and ordained as a Deacon on January 20, 2013. Jim and Carol have been married since 1965 and have 1 daughter. Individually, these two bring so much to our church that bless us on a daily basis, but together these two are the Dynamic Duo.....and they always color coordinate!
Jim Olsons favorite Bible verse is Psalm 23 "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me
beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
His quote, and one that we as a church see him live everyday - "When things get tough, the tough get going!"

Jim Davis - Deacon
I was born in 1948 in Panama City, Florida. I went through school in Jacksonville, Fl. I was Baptized in 1960 in a Baptist church. In 1967 I entered the U.S. Navy. In 1968 I went to school and became a licensed FAA Air Traffic Controller. I served aboard USS KITTY HAWK in Viet Nam in 1968 and 1969. I retired with 23 years of active duty in 1990 as Chief Petty Officer. Through the years I have studied the King James Bible considerably and taught in several churches. I have always considered myself non-denominational, striving to understand God's word as it is revealed to me. My wife, Andrea, and I were married April 20, 1968 and have a son Christopher and a daughter Terri.
Dave Disher - Deacon
My wife, Terry, and I have been blessed with four children, two girls (Nancy and Brittany) and two boys (David and Rusty).
Born in Illinois, I was raised in church with a strong influence given by my parents and grandparents. After high school, I attended the University of Missouri at Rolla and then joined the U.S. Navy. Serving over 20 years as a cryptologist, I retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. As happens with many, I drifted away from God at this time. The Father never gave up on me and placed a man in my life, during a very difficult period, who mentored me and I came home in 1982 doing my best to serve God since.
My entire life I have been a volunteer, attending National Aquatic School in Rocky Mount, Missouri and attaining certifications as a Water Safety and Handicapped Instructor, Small Craft Instructor, and First Aid/CPR Instructor for the American Red Cross. While serving in the Navy, I became certified as a motorcycle Safty Foundation Instructor by the National Motorcycle Safty Foundation and taught courses for many years. I served as a Webelos Leader and Scoutmaster and am a Wood Badge and Order of the Arrow member. I coached baseball and football during my boys growing years, was a baseball umpire and served as President of the Pensacola High Band Boosters for 8 years. Presently a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association, I have served as Sargent-At-Arms, Secretary, Treasurer, and am presently the President of the local chapter. I serve on the board of Service Dog University, Inc (SDU) as a founding member and presently serve as Treasurer. SDU is a non-profit dedicated to training service dogs for individuals with special needs in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.
Recently (2019), I was elected to serve as Deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a position I don't take lightly. I consider this to be the most important position of all those I've held, allowing me to serve God and the family of Pleasant Grove. I teach the Men's Sunday School class and assist the Pastor with the Sunday Night Bible Study. I wish to thank the family of Pleasant Grove for the privilege they have given me to serve.
Juan LaGrandeur - Youth Pastor
Hi I’m Juan LaGrandeur! I have been in the church my whole life, but I didn’t realize exactly where God wanted me until 2010. It is at that point that I rededicated my life to Him and felt the call into Youth Ministry.
Since then, I have helped in many capacities in the church from opening the church, working in the sound booth, visiting people in the hospital, working with kid’s church, helping and leading youth groups, and planning youth and kids events. Also, taking kids and youth to events, just to name a few things that I have done in ministry since 2010. I also volunteer at youth camp as a counselor every summer.
I feel that I have a calling to work with youth, because they often want to listen to what I have to say, since I care about each person that I speak with. My goal is to make sure that every teen knows that God has a plan for them and can use them no matter where they are. This goes along with my life verse which is Jeremiah 29:11.
I believe that there is hope for everyone. So, if I can just show teens that there is not only someone who cares for them, but died for their sins, and if only they would turn from their sins, then they can have a peace that will pass all understanding and a joy that is unspeakable. This is what I try to demonstrate through my daily life so that I can share with one more person.
Sheri has been a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church since she was 15 years old in 1980. There she met Fred while they were both in the youth group.
They eventually married 7 years later.
Sheri's recipe for joy is "Keep and maintain a relationship with God, cherish your family and loved ones, build good relationships with mentors and friends, and dedicate yourself to help those around you who may need you." Sheri loves the Lord and believes no matter what tomorrow brings "You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you".
