My "Parsonal" Opinion Through the years you meet some people who become sort of symbols for you of certain ideas and values. One, for me, was old Mr. Rogers, of Wrightstown, New Jersey. Countless military people, over many, many years, came to know Mr. Rogers at the old Ft. Dix Army Base. You see, he was head blacksmith there for a very long time. He was past 80 years old when I first met him. But I never saw him without a necktie on. Other people told me they hadn’t either. His wife, who’d been the organist in the Methodist church for decades, was dead now. With great emotion, and tears in his eyes, he told me how much he missed her. It sees the couple had always kept the romance in their marriage. Rogers always wanted to be at his best for her. So – no matter how tired he was from blacksmithing, he’d bathe and put on a fresh shirt and a necktie! Husbands, the Bible says we husbands should love our wives "even as Jesus loved the church and gave Himself for her." Do we want more out of our marriages? Maybe we should try putting more into them! Lovingly, |
